French Horn Rebellion

Photobucket

Spent the afternoon quiching with the Grand'rents today. Nailing cake and bucketloads of English Breakfast followed by the mandatory afternoon nap. Though i don't want to wish my years away, if that's what awaits me when i hit the 87 year old mark, it's basically happy days from here.

So, on what has turned out to be a day of great discoveries, as well as tasting the delights of OAP'dom, i have stumbled across the happiest of tunes by French Horn Rebellion vs Database. Had a great little bop in the car back home and have come straight to the laptop to listen again. So imagine my joy to discover The Twelves have remixed the tune, to make it even better. Reminds me of a tune my good friend Joey played me a long time ago which you can hear here...

Neons

Having a love affair with neon lights at the moment. In fact neon everything. Lights, hair, clothes a la Jonathan Saunders and Proenza Schouler SS10... Considering a little dip dye for next weekend in Newcastle. Pink? Purple? Blue?

Inspiration. From this one editorial, i can guage my favourite colour palettes, textures, fabrics, tastes in soft furnishings, silhouettes. Everything down to the last details, from the single white flower that sneaks into the edge of the fifth photo, to the rough paint effect smeared onto the background wall encapsulate everything i love about fashion photography. Without trying to sound too serious, it actually amazes me how inspired you can be by a bunch of photos. I could decorate a house armed with just these photos. I know it's a bit of a weird thing to say but, creatively, it sort of makes you feel like you could take on the world...

The Girl From Oz

Photobucket

Remember this?

This editorial by Corinne Day is pretty much solely responsible (along with the shameful attraction of Blue Crush) for every girl i know secretly hankering for the life of a surf girl. Tousled blond hair, epic body, 'give a fuck' attitude - Gemma Ward had it all in spades which is why she is one of my most missed models. You can always trust Corinne Day to create the most natural of editorials, drawing the personality out of models and making their lives even more desirable than you ever thought possible... Throw in a bit of Lords of Dogtown, an all over tan, sand between my toes and a healthy dose of beginner's luck surf-style, and i could literally up sticks right now and move to the Gold Coast. I might even be able to handle the early mornings...

It's all mine...

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Yes it's all mine...

Went into the Matches stockroom the other day (my new place of work by the way... wasn't roaming uninvited through the designer boutique's hiding places) and what did i find hiding in a pile of super stripe, mega stripe and extreme stripe goodness, but the last Acne Extreme Stripe Dress in the whole of the company. Waiting for me to discover it. My own personal Atlantis... Needless to say i ran upstairs and snapped it up before anyone could say different. These little fish have been slipping through the retail net faster than the speed of light so to find one, untouched, unguarded, unreserved... psh, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity...

Ok, completely over the top. but it's a great dress. And if come summer i realise i actually look like Burglar Bill, then they're selling on eBay for more i could sell the rest of my combined topshop wardrobe for. Score.

And i'm back... After committing the cardinal blogging sin of not updating for something verging on three weeks, i have had a sudden flash of techno-inspiration - blogging from the iPhone... Yes, i know. Slow on the update or what... Fiddly though it may be, me and this 5" x 2" chunk of plastic will be getting very well aquainted whilst i'm residing here in my internet-less black hole, which I'm pretty sure will be for the forseeable future. My prep school gameboy-induced, finely honed thumb dexterity will pale in comparison to the modern day me and my trusty phone. Just you wait.

So, to kickstart my return i give you these stunning Darren Macdonald pictures from
his blog 'Cold After Midnight'. The author of epic blog '4th and Bleeker' getting her prairie chic on. Simply beautiful.
